East Cheshire Hospice Choir

History of the Choir

The Hospice Choir, formed in Autumn 2006, was inspired by the then Chaplain, Stella Cole. It is currently run by a group of choir volunteers and rehearsals are led by Kath Ibbotson, who has taught Music in Macclesfield for over 40 years.

Our Purpose

The choir was formed as a support group, in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice both to bring pleasure and raise funds. The Latin name ‘Claritas’ was suggested by one of the nurses and means “to brighten or to illuminate”. This is something the choir want to do for all those touched by and involved with the Hospice.  With generous local public support, for which we are very grateful, Claritas raised £6,408.68 in 2018.
